Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and is responsible for the production of specific sexual masculine traits. When synthesized, it is usually linked to an ester to delay its release into the body. The testosterone propionate is the shortest ester commonly associated with testosterone. This means that the hormone takes a shorter time to break free of the ester and be released in the body. Due to its short active life, the testosterone propionate normally needs to be injected every two days, at least. Typically, the testosterone propionate causes less side effects and less water retention, and when they occur, these effects usually diminish rapidly when usage is stopped.

Testosterone propionate is actually one of fisioculturistas favorite testosterones. That's because this short ester seems to produce much less water retention and rapid early gains. The bad news is that this particular form of testosterone must be injected frequently. Many users prefer to inject it every day or every other day, at a dose of about 100 to 200 mg.

One of the most interesting things that many users find, is that when the use 100 mg every other day, blood testosterone levels were high, but still within normal limits. This indicates that probably these athletes could use this same dosage and still pass in a doping test.
